Yoga Music

Well Hello.... :)

I went to a beginner's yoga class on Sunday night that turned out to be very challenging. I tend to get caught up in the more fast paced classes that when you really stop to break down the poses you tend to feel the burn a bit more. It was also a class that was focusing on "chatarungas" the yogi push-up. So needless to say, today I am quite sore. But a GREAT sore. I am also including a playlist for yoga lovers. This is a compilation that you could use in a class or even try at home. It starts slow, builds fast enough for core work, and then ends slow for the beautiful savasana pose.

Also, recently watched the movie FOOD INC. I would recommend that everyone watch this flick. It will give you a great in site as to what you are putting in your body and how you can make conscious efforts to better the food quality in your diet!! :) ( See tips below)

Yoga Playlist:

1.) Florence and the Machine: Cosmic Love (4:19)
2.) John Mayer: Slow Dancing in a Burning Room (3:51)
3.) Pearl Jam: Just Breathe (3:36)
4.) Temper Trap: Sweet Disposition (3:54)
5.) Citizen Cope: Brother Lee (3:49)
6.) Michael Franti: Sometimes (3:47)
7.) Empire State of Mind (4:41)
8..) Beruit: Nantes (3:53)
9.) Sara Bareilles: Gravity (3:54)
10.) Citizen Cope: Keep Askin (2:53)
11.) Carla Bruni: Quelqu'un m'a dit (3:22)
12.) Sheryl Crow: I Shall Believe ( 5:34)
13.) Xavier Rudd: The Letter (4:13)

Total Time: 48.26

I hope you enjoy this!!

Also for healthy eaters out there, here are some tips:

1. Drink half your body weight in ounces per day. (Add 20 ounces for every workout per day you do).

2. Chug 16-20 ounces of water as soon as you get up since you’ve just spent 6-8 hours without water so your body wakes up in severe dehydration state.

3. Don’t drink water 30 min before you eat or one hour after you eat because it dilutes the digestive enzymes needed to process your food properly. Only takes sips when needed before/during/after your meal.

4. Drink an Emergen-C packet in your water after you work out to replenish your system.

5. Drink 3 cups of green tea a day which provides anti-oxidants and boosts immunity but remove the caffeine from at least 2 out of the 3 cups of the day. To do this, dip the tea bag in a cup of hot water for 20 seconds which releases the caffeine immediately then the bag can be used in your regular cup of hot water to drink.

6. Take a shot glass of organic apple cider vinegar in the morning to keep up your metabolism and break down fat so it can be easily eliminated.

7. NEVER use artificial sweeteners or drink things that have them (Diet drinks, energy drinks, etc.). It’s better to use something like Stevia or those brown packets of cane sugar in the restaurants rather than anything chemically derived. Although they have no calories, they actually make you gain weight in the long run because it causes a high level or toxicity in your body which is a leading cause of weight gain. They also make you crave more of it.

8. When you cook foods over 115 degrees, you lose most of the nutrients/enzymes that are healthy in the food so eat as many things as you can in raw form.

9. Steaming is best but SAVE THE WATER after you’ve steamed it! The majority of the nutrients/enzymes are released into the water so what you eat after it is steamed is actually not very nutrient rich, it’s left in the water. Add the water to a shake the next morning or if you really want, shoot it!!

10. Your metabolism will actually SHUT DOWN if you take is less calories that you actually need for safe weight loss once you account for your level of activity in exercise and at your job. You think it is a simple calculation of calories in vs. calories out but it is not that simple. To get over a plateau, the answer is usually you need to INCREASE your caloric intake (with good stuff, not empty calorie crap like processed foods and fat). For example, by calculation, I am required to take in 1800 calories per day, while burning 600 calories per day in my workouts. I sometimes feel I can’t eat that much but I have to force feed myself whether I like it or not so that my metabolism won’t shut down and I burn fat rather than muscle.

Comment if you have questions!! :)

Have a great week....

Meg
